Fencing derives from ancient duel with swords and it is one of five activities which has been featured at every one of the modern Olympic Games since 1896. Fencing is also a social sport, which requires handshake with the opponent after each fencing bout. While Fencing is the one of the safest sports, its close range engagement with one’s opponent offers a healthy way of releasing pressure and expressing oneself. Every winning touch helps to build self-esteem and confidence.
Tiffany and Ellen Lu started fencing at age 7. Their experience demonstrates the fencing sport is great at exercising the mind and body. Participating in fencing is an excellent way to have fun, make new friends, and get exercise. The sisters want to share their knowledge in fencing, devote their spare time to support local children and teens in anti-bullying, and help make local schools and communities a better place.
